The beginning of the North Tower collapse is very rapid, showing the core columns had been severely damaged or rather were in the process of being destroyed.
*Very few pieces of 47 core columns, which ran all the way up the building can be found in the rubble, the steel structural members in the rubble are mainly exterior columns.
After most of each of the Buildings had been destroyed, a few core columns still remain standing.
An observable collection of Core-Columns remaining after the initial collapse rapidly disintegrate.
Newton's 1st Law of Gravity and Motion
An object at rest remains at rest and an object moving at a
certain velocity retains that velocity unless a FORCE acts on it.
At the beginning of the collapse of WTC 2 approximately 30 percent of the Tower broke off and began falling.
Newton's first law tells us that an opposing force acted upon the top section of WTC 2 causing a large amount of material to be pulverized in mid-air.
The World Trade Center South Tower (WTC 2) was struck between the 78th and 84th floors.
Approximately 30 percent of the Building was pulverized into fine dust in mid-air.
The WTC Towers had exterior columns as well as 47 steel
core columns to support the weight of the building. The 47 core columns
supported the majority of the load of the building. The exterior columns of
course also supported some of the weight of the building. To be specific about
the core columns, they were 54 x 22 inches, made of steel. The core
columns maintained their size upwards of the 66th floor (contrary to some
peoples
beliefs, although they did thin higher up.) The majority of the core columns
were almost completely destroyed.

Example of Core Column Size Compared To Building:

Inches - 1.37 x 0.558 Metres]:
Note: Approaching the top of the tower the
core columns thinned (somewhere upwards of the 66th floor.)

Less than two seconds later:
What happened to the support
of the 47 steel core columns that supported the majority of the of the building?
Here we see the building start to turn into a
something which resembles a mushroom cloud:
WTC Core Columns Spire:
After each Tower collapsed a few of the core columns
(although heavily damaged) were still standing, however almost appear to disintegrate after
standing for only seconds.

WTC 1 Spire Disintegration:
As you can see the remaining parts of a few of the
core columns basically just disintegrate in less than a couple of seconds.
Above is a picture where a remaining part of the
Core Columns of the WTC North Tower (WTC 1) appear to disintegrate into dust.

Spot The Core Columns:
In the below picture how much of the 47 steel
core columns that ran the entire way up the WTC Towers can be found in the
rubble? It seems the majority of the rubble is exterior columns. Another
important question (unrelated to this specific issue), is what happened to
all of the concrete in the floors? It was pulverized into dust (less than
100 microns in size.)
